Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s friend, tattoo artist Nadiya Vizier, revealed in an interview with People that Blanchard and her estranged husband Ryan Anderson had a heated altercation where he banged on the bathroom door and screamed at her. Vizier claimed that Blanchard was afraid Anderson would hit her, given her past experiences of abuse. Blanchard eventually called a relative for help and went to her father’s house in Cut Off, Louisiana to seek safety after the incident.

News broke on March 29 that Blanchard and Anderson were separating after less than two years of marriage. Blanchard issued a statement on her private Facebook account stating that she was staying with her parents down the bayou for support during the separation. She expressed the need for time to find herself and understand who she is. The couple first connected in 2020 when Anderson wrote a letter to Blanchard in prison. They got married in a jailhouse ceremony in 2022, following Blanchard’s release in December 2023 after serving seven years in prison for the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Dee Dee Blanchard had been abusing her daughter, Gypsy, by fake medical conditions and suffering from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a disorder where a caregiver seeks attention through those they care for. This story was documented in various TV shows and movies, including the HBO documentary “Mommy Dead and Dearest” and the Hulu miniseries “The Act”. Gypsy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder after her mother’s death and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, being granted parole in September 2023 before her release in December of the same year.

Since announcing her separation from Anderson, Blanchard has been seen with her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker, who has clarified that their relationship is platonic and they are just friends. Urker stated in a TikTok video captured by TMZ that there has been no intimacy between them. Despite the public speculation, Blanchard and Urker are maintaining a friendship and supporting each other through their respective challenges. The separation from Anderson has led Blanchard to seek comfort and guidance from her family and friends as she navigates this new chapter in her life.
