In our analysis of the richest cities in Kansas, we evaluated over 740 cities using key financial data from the Census Bureau’s 2022 American Community Survey. Mission Hills boasts the highest median household income in Kansas, exceeding $250,000, and the highest average household income at $483,849. The median home value in Mission Hills is nearly $1.6 million, with median property taxes paid exceeding $10,000. The city’s workforce is primarily occupied by management, business, and financial operations professionals, with top industries being professional, scientific, and technical services, health care and social assistance, and finance and insurance.
Following closely behind Mission Hills is Mission Woods, located just north of Mission Hills. Despite being significantly smaller with only 61 households, Mission Woods boasts the second-highest median household income in Kansas at $198,750 and the second-highest average household income at $412,266. The median home value in Mission Woods is $716,700, with median property taxes paid totaling $7,500 annually. The city’s workforce is also dominated by health care, scientific, technical services, and finance professionals.
Lake Quivira takes the third spot on our list of the richest cities in Kansas, located farther outside of Kansas City. The median household income in Lake Quivira is $166,875, with an average household income of $292,445, ranking it as the third-highest in the state. The median home value in Lake Quivira is $692,600, and median property taxes paid amount to $6,676 per year. The city’s workforce is largely composed of management, sales, and legal professionals, with top industries being professional, scientific, and technical services, manufacturing, and wholesale trade.
