Actress Sabina Gadecki, who plays Cara on Fire Country, expressed her sadness over her character’s death in the April 5 episode. She mentioned that if she had any involvement in the decision, Cara might not have died. However, she also mentioned that she felt prepared to say goodbye to the character as the writers had warned her beforehand.

Gadecki received a call from the showrunner in December 2023, informing her about Cara’s fate in season 2. She appreciated having time to process the information on her own before the rest of the cast found out. The actress mentioned that she felt grateful that the writers honored her character in the way they did, even though it was difficult for her to let go of Cara.

During the episode, Cara had a discussion with Bode about coparenting her daughter and was also moving forward in her relationship with Jake, who had bought an engagement ring. Gadecki expressed her disappointment over not being able to explore further the relationships and unanswered questions relating to her character before her untimely demise.

Despite feeling sad about Cara not making it down the aisle, Gadecki praised the writing on Fire Country and understood the decision to kill off the character. She mentioned that she loved working on the series and hoped for a return to the show through flashbacks or other means in the future to explore more of Cara’s backstory.

Looking back on her final days as Cara, Gadecki mentioned that being on the Fire Country set felt like home and that her sendoff, which included a funeral scene, felt right. She expressed nothing but love and joy in her heart for the journey her character was able to go on. Gadecki also shared her hopes for the future of Bode and Jake as they navigate being father figures to Cara’s daughter without her.

Overall, Gadecki said she would be honored to reprise her role as Cara if the writers decide to include flashbacks in the show. She believes there is more to explore in terms of the relationships and backstory between her character and others on the show. Fire Country airs on CBS Fridays at 9 p.m. ET.
