Blackpink’s Jennie Ends Her Tie with Jung Kook – At Least for Now

Blackpink singer Jennie has achieved the hit of her career with “One of the Girls,” her collaboration with The Weeknd and Lily Rose Depp, which has been charting on the Hot 100 for an impressive 18 weeks. This accomplishment is significant for any track by a South Korean musician, especially when considering soloists from that nation. Jennie now holds the third spot on the ranking of the longest-charting hits in Hot 100 history by South Korean solo musicians, surpassing Jung Kook in the process.

Jung Kook had previously enjoyed a successful run on the Hot 100 with his song “Left and Right” featuring Charlie Puth, which remained on the chart for 17 weeks. However, the longest-running single by any South Korean soloist on the Hot 100 is still “Gangnam Style” by Psy, which spent an impressive 31 weeks on the chart and introduced many to K-pop over a decade ago.

Despite currently dropping more than 10 spots on the Hot 100, “One of the Girls” by Jennie is expected to climb again when the chart is refreshed. With the release of Taylor Swift’s album “The Tortured Poets Department” leading to 31 new placements on the chart, Jennie’s hit has slipped to No. 81 in the current frame. However, the potential for a rebound is strong, and it is likely that the song will earn its nineteenth stay on the chart.

If “One of the Girls” does manage to climb back up the Hot 100 and secure its nineteenth week on the chart, Jennie will once again make history. Tying with Jung Kook’s “Standing Next to You,” which recently fell off the list after spending 19 weeks on the tally, Jennie’s track will rank as the second-longest-charting song by a South Korean solo musician in the history of the Hot 100. Overall, the success of “One of the Girls” showcases Jennie’s rising prominence in the music industry and solidifies her position as a standout talent in the global music scene.
