Brandon Boyd, the lead singer of the rock band Incubus, has a wide range of interests outside of music. He is fascinated by plants and fungi, loves collecting books and tattoos, painting, writing, accents, surfing, and his late French bulldog, Bruce. Boyd has been a part of Incubus since he co-founded the band with Michael Einziger and José Pasillas at just 15 years old. Nearly 33 years later, the Grammy-nominated band is still touring stadiums across the country, having sold millions of albums.

Boyd shared 25 things people may not know about him, including his love for cartoons, collecting tattoos since he was 15, and starting a fine art print company called Moonlight Arts Collective. He is also a painter and has been making art for as long as he can remember. Additionally, Boyd has released three solo albums and has a fascination with accents, dialects, languages, and how animals communicate. He has also recently ventured into acting, playing White Jesus on Reservation Dogs.

Despite being severely burned as an infant by a rogue pot of coffee, Boyd still loves coffee. He has a bunion named Paul and kneecaps named Chet and Garrison. Boyd’s mother had a painting that she did while pregnant that haunted him and his brothers as children. He has since taken the painting into his home. Boyd enjoys going on long walks, purposefully getting lost, and has created a jigsaw puzzle and a memory game. He also recalls being convinced as a child that the Big Bad Wolf lived in his toilet.

Boyd’s 15-year-old French bulldog, Bruce, may have been the oldest surviving of its breed in recorded history. In August, Incubus is set to embark on a 10-arena tour in the U.S. where they will perform their album Morning View in its entirety each night. Boyd’s love for a variety of interests outside of music continues to shape his life and creative endeavors, showcasing his passion for art, nature, and exploration.
